: Autonomous systems are increasingly used in a variety of engineering applications that are of fundamental importance for both civilian and military purposes, consisting for example of robotic devices autonomously operating in hazardous environments, performing routine monitoring and maintenance of infrastructures, and aiding the rehabilitation of patients suffering different injuries, among others. From the engineering perspective, the design and realization of advanced autonomous systems is at the intersection of dynamical systems theory, control systems, and algorithmic. This course uses real life engineering systems of interest to introduce stochastic models that apply to frameworks such as search theory for mobile autonomous systems, and target detection from images taken by autonomous systems. Additionally, recent optimization techniques based on symmetry are presented.Posting limited to:
