Below are sample work activities that construction labourers may perform while completing their work experience. Activities may vary depending on the worksite.

General Labourer Responsibilities

• Cleaning and clearing up the worksite
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Directing traffic when necessary (flagperson training required)
• Hooking metal culvert together with a coupler
• Sliding concrete culverts together
• Shovelling or raking material to backfill/level out
• Packing granular material with a whacker packer
• Adding water to granular material to achieve proper composition
• Driving self-propelled packer/smooth drum for ground material compaction

Skilled Labourer Responsibilities

• Bump‑testing and calibrating equipment (e.g., surveyor instruments)
