Landscape Technicians understand and apply the design, maintenance, construction, and installation of soft and hard landscaping. They study, grow, tend, and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants, and perform various landscape construction duties. They study the conditions affecting plant growth, and often practice their trade indoors in greenhouses.
Work environments for this role may be outdoors or indoors, or both. Work hours may vary. Some positions are seasonal while others are year‑round, part‑time, or project‑based, requiring full‑time work until the project is complete.
Typical workplaces include nurseries and greenhouses, yard and tree care companies, golf courses, public parks, and other horticulture and gardening‑related fields.
