Reporting to legal counsel, the paralegal has direct responsibility for assisting with the case management of complex files. This role has a particular focus on the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia’s (CPSBC) remediation and discipline processes under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) and the Health Professions Review Board (HPRB) files under section 310 of the HP0A. For complaints matters, the paralegal will assist legal counsel with preparation and review of matters for the Investigation Committee, ensuring completeness and compliance with legal requirements, and will support and prioritize requests for legal input from the complaints department. The paralegal will prepare disciplinary records, to support legal counsel and others at CPSBC to review matters further to the requirements of the HPOA.
