Position Overview

Working within the Emergency team and the Mental Health Reassessment and Observation Unit (ROU-HSC), the Psychiatric Liaison Nurse provides mental health expertise in patient assessment, suicide risk assessment, care planning, intervention and evaluation within the Emergency Department, the Mental Health Observation Unit and the Facility. Provides support and mental healthcare to Emergency Department (ED patients and families experiencing stress or crisis. The Psychiatric Liaison Nurse provides consultation and support to patients primarily assigned to an ED nurse.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years recent acute mental health experience required.
• Previous experience in an Emergency Department preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in psychiatric assessment within a biopsychosocial framework, crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, co-occurring disorders and awareness of community resources available to clients...
