The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to provide care to patients across the life span. The RN ensures the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of patient care plans. Patient population varies from emergency care, pre‑ and post‑operative, pediatric, seniors, palliative, labour and delivery and postpartum. The RN demonstrates the ability to accurately and effectively assess patient status and to take appropriate intervention measures that have significant impact on the patient’s medical condition, safety, as well as ultimate recovery. The RN accepts responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research, and continuous quality improvement activities.
