As a member of a multi disciplinary team, the experienced peri-operative RN has focused skills in a variety of services that would include: Urology, General Surgery, Thoracic, Plastic/ Oral Maxiofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery and Orthopedics. Both scheduled (elective) and unscheduled (emergency) surgery is performed and the position requires the incumbent to do on-call shifts.The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care during the peri-operative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. It is expected that the incumbent is able to provide leadership in clinical practice through management of patient care, anticipate needs of the patient including ensuring equipment and supplies are available for the required cases.
