Department: Critical Care Response Team/Critical Care Unit Composite
The Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) nurse is an experienced critical care clinician responsible for responding to deteriorating patients throughout the hospital. The CCRT nurse provides rapid assessment, advanced clinical intervention, stabilization and consultation to support bedside teams in preventing adverse events such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure and unplanned CCU admissions. The CCRT nurse also provides follow up care to post CCU transfers to the wards and to all CCRT requests for consultation. This role promotes early recognition of clinical deterioration and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve and promote patient safety and positive outcomes.
