Duties

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Indigenous Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ Mentor will provide support and services for gender and sexuality diverse people within the community of Thunder Bay, and will utilize existing Indigenous community capacity to support self‑defined youth needs from a culture‑based framework. The Mentor will work with social sector partners and stakeholders in the community to help build capacity by designing and enhancing services with an emphasis of increasing knowledge and developing culturally competent practices that help promote Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) human rights. Further, the Mentor will support a Trauma Informed approach to community‑building and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Preferred Community College, University Degree or equivalent in Social Services and/or a minimum of 2 years work experience in a social justice services environment.
