The Unit Clerk is a vital member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, responsible for managing the full scope of administrative operations on designated care, treatment, and unit care areas. Acting as a central liaison among patients, families, and clinical staff, the Unit Clerk ensures timely and accurate communication, documentation, and coordination of care‑related processes. Unit Clerks apply their knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems to support admissions, transfers, and discharges; maintain essential records; and facilitate smooth unit workflow. They also oversee inventory and supplies, assist with scheduling and time‑keeping functions, and serve as Downtime Captains during system outages, helping ensure continuity of operations in high‑pressure environments.
